The Toadstool Hoodoos of Grand Staircase-Escalante National Monument, Utah
The Toadstool Hoodoos of Grand Staircase-Escalante National Monument (also called the Paria Rimrocks) are faszinating mushroom shaped balanced rock formations which can be visited by a short 20 minutes hike. The Toadstool Hoodoos trailhead is about 40 minutes drive away from Kanab UT accessible by highway 89. The Hoodoos are consisting of different types of Sandstone and were mainly be shaped by wind erosion.
Photos were taken during my third visit in May 2014.
In springtime, lots of beautiful desert flowers are blooming in the area. Pics above: Desert lupine (Lupinus shockleyi, left) and Arizona mariposa lily (Calochortus ambiguus, right).
